My MGB past its annual MOT check today without any issues.
HT Leads
My MGB has been coughing a bit on these damp winter mornings, so I finally managed to find time to upgrade the HT leads over the Christmas break. First signs are good and a new OEM HT lead set seems to have improved starting and running when cold. I found a really good supplier on eBay. BMC & Leyland day at the Gaydon Motor Museum
I live close to the Gaydon Motor Museum, but believe it or not, have never visited. The other weekend I had an opportunity to take my MGB along to display it at the BMC & Leyland day. The museum has recently gone through an extensive update, and in my opinion, represents a great day out. Many owners had brought their BMC and British Leyland cars, and this made a great display in the carpark outside.
Wire Wheels
I have been very disappointed with the paint quality on my new wire wheels. They have done less than 1,000 miles and the silver paint is already flaking off around the base of the spokes. It seems the top coat is very thin. I have therefore taken the decision to refurbish a set of wire wheels and have them powder coated. I will keep you updated on progress.
MG's in the park
I attended MG's in the park, which is held at the Cotswold Wildlife Park just South of Burford. This is a really good well organised event with lots of friendly people. The organisers are Oxfordshire MG Owners Club, and if you have chance to attend and support, I would recommend you try and enjoy a fantastic day out. I entered the pride of ownership but did not come anywhere, but I did meet lots of interesting people, and continued to learn more about what makes an original Mk1 MGB.
MOT
My MGB sailed through the MOT this week. All we need now is some decent weather. We woke in the UK to snow this morning - hardly MGB weather!
